Vacancy: Communication Officer

FSDMoc is currently seeking for a Communication officer for its office in Maputo. The incumbent, will be responsible for the daily implementation of the communications plan, with the support of DAI Communication technical advisor and under the supervision of the Chief Operational Officer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications strategy and work plan:

  • Implement the communications strategy and plan on a daily basis, coordinating with the technical team and various service providers
  • Report on communications action
  • Participate and report on on-going activities during weekly meeting

FSDMoç identity

  • Ensure that the templates and style guide are being used by all staff member (layout, look and feel, colours, fonts, etc.)

Publications and blogs

  • Support and help develop appropriate material (papers, blogs, summaries…) from technical staff
  • Draft content for annual publications, brochures and other
  • Draft ToRs and liaise with graphic designers, ensuring that they work along the FSDMoç visual identity
  • Commission printing houses
  • Manage physical and electronic dissemination of the publications

Social media

  • Maintain the social media accounts and profiles of FSDMoç , ensuring regular tweets and new followers

Website and e-newsletter

  • Regular update of the website and blog with news feed, event announcement, blog posts
  • Liaise with web agency when necessary
  • Compile a regular e-newsletter using MailChimp and disseminate it
  • Launch emailing campaigns to the contact database, when necessary (e.g. invitation to attend a conference)
  • Update and manage the contact database
  • Report on website visits and boost website traffic

Media relations

  • News media monitoring, sharing important highlights in the sector and citation of FSDMoç
  • Draft press releases
  • Answer journalists’ inquiries and coordinating meetings with senior staff and management
  • Update and manage the contact database

Event organisation and management

  • Proposed agenda and participants, build list of target audiences and guests,
  • Arranging venues and other logistics (caterers, photographers, video shooting)
  • Organising live streaming when necessary.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, BEHAVIOURS AND ATTRIBUTES

Requirements: Fluent Portuguese – Essential. Valid Mozambique work permit – Essential

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of honour Degree in Communication, Jornalism, Graphic designer , Public Administration or any related discipline.

Skills

  • Very good written communication skills in English and Portuguese
  • Ability to support technical team to provide content
  • Graphic design and desktop publishing skills
  • Experience with Social media
  • Organisational skills and the ability to organise and events
  • Ability to coordinate service providers

Knowledge

  • Economic and Financial sector knowledge/experience
  • Knowledge of donor reporting processes (ideally DFID)
  • Understanding and/or experience of communication in Mozambique

Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in communication
  • Demonstrated first-hand experience interacting with medias
  • First-hand experience on graphic designer
  • Experience on managing webpages, upload and writing press-realises, blogs,

Behaviours

  • Ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels
  • Effective influencing and relationship building skills, special with the medias
  • Demonstrates drive and commitment to delivering high quality results
